A lot was said in October about the survey by the Hammonds Furniture company in the UK, about the bed linen cleaning habits of the British.
Leaving aside the possible bias in this type of survey undertaken with 2,000 people interviewed, the results are truly surprising. The big headline has been that one in 3 people only wash their bed linen once a year, and this, in health terms, is difficult to accept in the current times. In scientific literature we find in many studies the recommendation to wash bed linen once a week (see Dr. Aragona Guiuseppe), and although perhaps this recommendation is certainly not adhered to 100%, the differences are too abysmal and more so in times of pandemic.
Bed linen is part of our clothing 8 hours a day, we should not ignore this question and should continue to follow washing routines that help us in our all-round personal hygiene.
